# About Sheeps

> Sheeps is an iPhone app that makes sleep stories with no plot, written for each listener, so that a busy mind has something harmless to hold at bedtime. It is made in Munich by David Pflugpeil, and this site is where its reasoning is written down: what keeps a mind awake, what the research does and does not show, and why the stories are built the way they are.

## Who makes Sheeps?

Sheeps is made and published by David Pflugpeil in Munich, Germany — the [Imprint](https://dreamsheeps.space/imprint) has the details the law asks for. The app is the only product. This site carries no advertising, no affiliate links and no analytics, and it sets no cookies.

## What is Sheeps?

An iPhone app, in English and German. It writes each story from the comfort themes a listener chooses, keeps out everything on their avoid list, and reads it in a calm voice: images that have nothing in common with one another and lead nowhere, sentences that shrink, pauses that grow, and silence at the end. A language model writes each story within fixed rules and a synthetic voice reads it — [how a story is made](https://dreamsheeps.space/how-it-works) has the detail.

It is a wellness app, not a medical product. It does not diagnose or treat anything, and it has not itself been clinically tested. [The press page](https://dreamsheeps.space/press) has the facts in one place.

## How we write these pages

- *The answer comes first.* Every page starts from the question people actually ask and answers it in its opening sentences; the headings are the questions that follow.
- *Claims are checked against their sources.* A claim about research is checked against the paper itself — not a news story about it — and the paper is listed at the foot of the page as a link that works.
- *A number travels with its study.* The people it was measured in and the year sit in the same sentence, because a sentence is often quoted without the one after it.
- *What a study did not show is said as plainly as what it did.* When a popular claim cannot be traced to a source, the page says that instead of repeating it.
- *Nothing here is medical advice.* Where a problem may need a doctor, the page says so. For insomnia that has lasted for months, the American College of Physicians recommends cognitive behavioural therapy for insomnia (CBT-I) as the first treatment, and the American Academy of Sleep Medicine gives it a strong recommendation.

The articles are researched and drafted with the help of AI tools and checked against the sources they cite before they are published. Each page shows the day it was published and the day its words last changed; the build keeps those dates, not a person, so they cannot drift.

## Why does a sleep app write about other products?

Because people choosing between them ask. Comparison pages name other apps and products only to compare them, say when they were checked, and say that Sheeps is ours — [the cognitive shuffling apps compared](https://dreamsheeps.space/cognitive-shuffling/apps) is the model for every one of them.

## How do I report a mistake?

Write to the address in the [Imprint](https://dreamsheeps.space/imprint). A correction changes the page and moves the date it shows; nothing is quietly rewritten to say something it did not.
